From Mexican-American traditions and colorful public art to music, food and family-friendly celebrations, El Paso offers plenty of ways to enjoy autumn with a distinctly Southwest flavor – all of which are a short drive from our apartments to rent in El Paso!

Vivamos México! — September 12

Kick off the fall festival season with Vivamos México!, El Paso’s official celebration of Mexico’s Independence anniversary. Held September 12 at the El Paso Convention Center, the fourth annual event features an evening of music, culture and traditions celebrating the deep connections between El Paso and Mexico. The celebration runs from 5–11 p.m. and is free to attend.

Way Out West Festival — September 26

For a taste of Western culture with an El Paso twist, head downtown for the Way Out West Festival on September 26. The celebration features regional talent, live music, a Chili Challenge and a Quest for the Best Margarita competition. It is a fun way to experience the food, music and personality that make the Southwest so distinctive.

Chalk the Block — October 3–4

One of El Paso’s most colorful fall traditions, Chalk the Block transforms the Downtown Arts District into a giant outdoor art gallery October 3–4. More than 100 local and touring artists participate, creating temporary chalk masterpieces and interactive installations. Visitors can also enjoy live music, dance, theater, food vendors and hands-on activities. Best of all, admission is free—and visitors of all ages can even create their own chalk art.

Día de los Muertos Desfile & Festival — October 24

Perhaps the most meaningful fall celebration in El Paso is the Día de los Muertos Desfile & Festival, taking place October 24 in the Downtown Arts District. This free, day-long celebration honors the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed. Expect colorful altars and exhibits, cultural activities, local vendors, performances and a spectacular parade beginning at 4 p.m. The parade features floats, performers and community organizations, creating a moving celebration of family, heritage and remembrance.
