With the forecast for August in El Paso indicating that there’s a hot month on tap, we thought we’d fill this month’s blog with a list of our favorite splash pools and swimming pools in El Paso.  There’s no doubt that they are there for a great reason and all offer either a free or low price point to help those of us who live in and around our apartment community in El Paso keep cool during this steamy month in Texas.

When we did some research on the subject at hand, we found this important list of “what to do and what not to do” when you head to a spray park this summer. Once you read the specifics that are offered from The City of El Paso, enjoy some summer fun at some of our favorite places for family fun.

SPRAY PARKS RULES AND SUGGESTIONS

The “spray park” area is defined as the splash pad with its interactive features and the adjacent sidewalks and pavilion. Spray park rules:

  • Concrete is slippery when wet. Water shoes are highly recommended
  • No Lifeguards on duty. Adult supervision is required
  • Avoid drinking the water
  • No running or horseplay allowed
  • Interact with the Spray ONLY if free of diarrhea or a contagious disease
  • No pets allowed
  • Do not climb or hang on features
  • No glass containers, bicycles, skate boards, or skates
  • No food and drinks in the spray area
  • Having fun is permissible and highly encouraged

SPRAY POOLS IN AND AROUND EL PASO

Sue Young Park

Here’s a great review about Sue Young Park that we found on Trip Advisor.  Sounds like a great spot for a hot summer day: “The splash pad was awesome! The kids loved the huge 'bucket' that dumped water on everyone. There is also a separate playground with slides and swings. Highlight was the sound of the ice cream truck that comes through every day! Nice, FREE, place to take the kids on a hot day and even adults can join in”

Hidden Valley Spray Park

This fun spot is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through October 30th. Additional operating days may be included based on weather so when you’re there enjoying all that this local’s favorite spray park has to offer, check in with their staff for complete details

Grandview Spray Park

The Grandview Spray Park features a splash pad with more than 15 water features, such as a large dump bucket, water spouts and fountains. Unique to the spray park is an interactive water stream, best known as a water journey that allows children to race and compete with loose floating objects on two channel tracks.

Pavo Real Enhanced Spray Park

Here’s a fun review that makes us want to head to Pavo Real right now!  “This park is incredible! The kids splash park is insanely cool with spraying water, slides, buckets dumping water and so much more. It seemed very popular but not too crowded at all.

Westside Community Park

The Westside Spray Park features a splash pad with a large dump bucket and more than 20 water features such as spouts and fountains. The spray park has other amenities, such as a shaded are picnic tables, security lighting, security cameras, ADA accessible sidewalks and landscaping.
