Earlier this month we asked our friends and family about where they go to cool off during the sunny summer months in El Paso. We also checked online for some advice from locals and visitors alike. The information contained on this page was compiled using real traveler reviews, and local ideas as well, about things to do in El Paso.
As our first blog this month got so much attention, we decided to keep the list going. When you are ready to head out for an adventure from your apartment in El Paso, we hope you head to one or more of the options below.
A favorite in our family is the Wyler Aerial Tramway. On a clear day, there is a view of the surrounding 7,000 square miles of both Texas and Mexico. The ride takes about fifteen minutes and goes about a half mile up Ranger Peak – note: where it is always much cooler than the park’s entrance below!
Known as 'The Showplace of the Southwest', the Plaza Theatre was opened to the public in 1930. When not being used for a wide-range of entertainment events, tours are available for guests to see the meticulously renovated venue.
Dedicated to preserving the history of the U.S. Border Patrol, National Border Patrol Museum & Memorial Library showcases documents, photographs, and artifacts from the Wild West era until the present day. Some of these artifacts include uniforms, firearms, and vehicles.
This museum shows the history of how a dispute was settled amicably between Texas and Mexico over territory in the early years of the settlement of the El Paso area.
Rather than a simple outdoor urban park, the Chamizal National Memorial represents the peaceful settlement of the 100-year border dispute in the area. Scheduled activities are held regularly throughout the year, and there is an on-site theater.
U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Museum
U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Museum preserves the history and heritage of the U.S. Army and the Air Defense Artillery branch from 1907 to present. The museum displays historically significant artifacts and showcases a wide artillery collection.
Railroad & Transportation Museum of El Paso
The history of the Transcontinental Railroads is the main focus of the Railroad & Transportation Museum of El Paso. Exhibits display railroads in different time periods and examples of classic American steam engines.
