The event continues to grow each year as one of the city’s premier spring attractions.

Kids LOVE nights at the part as well as they can cheer on their favorite players and, of course, sing the classic 7th Inning Stretch tune: “Take Me Out to The Ballgame.”!

For example, Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros takes place on April 25, celebrating children, reading, and community through interactive activities and educational programming. Ahhh, El Paso in April. Just the sound of it makes one want to pack up the kiddos and head out to enjoy the great outdoors!
To give you some ideas that have been ‘kid-approved’ and ideal for families with all ages, we checked with a few families here at Cantera Apartments for Rent in El Paso, Texas.
Here’s a full list of things to do within our amazing city and outskirts that blend adventure, culture, and kid-friendly fun.
With temperatures comfortably in the 70s and 80s, spring is one of the best times to explore everything El Paso has to offer without the intense summer heat.
One of our favorite things to do with the kids is to pack a picnic and head to the Franklin Mountains, where there are plenty of opportunities for family-friendly hikes. You don’t have to be an experienced hiker to enjoy it either—there are plenty of short, manageable trails and scenic viewpoints that are perfect for kids. Pack a hat, bring water and turn it into a mini-adventure.
For a more relaxed outdoor day, head to one of the city’s many parks. Ascarate Park is a favorite among the residents here at Cantera. The park’s large open spaces gives you an immediate feel that you have left the city life. It’s where kids can run freely while parents unwind. Or get more adventurous, rent some pedal boats or play “Marco Polo” in the pool!
No family outing is complete without a visit to the zoo. The El Paso Zoo is a must-do, offering a mix of animal exhibits, a splash pad, and even a train ride that younger kids will love. It’s easy to spend an entire morning here, especially when the weather is as pleasant as it is in April. Be sure not to miss the Wildlife Amphitheater. To see them for yourself, enjoy the self-guided walking tour. El Paso’s downtown core is compact and very walkable, while the desert, university, and border-adjacent spots are better by car. Here’s a self-guided walking tour and driving tour that will take you to the most recognizable filming locations in El Paso used for movies and TV shows.
Downtown El Paso Walking Film Tour (1.5–2 hours)
1) San Jacinto Plaza
Start here in the historic heart of downtown. Productions often use the plaza and surrounding streets for city establishing shots and crowd scenes.
Walk: 3–4 minutes south
2) WestStar Tower
This tall glass tower and surrounding blocks were used prominently in One Battle After Another for skyline and urban scenes. There are good angles from Kansas St. and Mills Ave.
Walk: 5 minutes
3) South Kansas Street
Multiple blocks between 1st and Paisano have hosted street-level filming (cars, foot chases, downtown atmosphere) for One Battle After Another. Walk the corridor for recognizable façades and alleyways.
Walk: 4 minutes west
4) El Paso Museum of Art
While not a specific set, this civic cluster (museum/library/plaza) often appears as background architecture in downtown shoots. It’s also a nice cultural stop.
Walk: 6–8 minutes north
5) Sunset Heights Historic District
End your walk in this neighborhood of early-1900s homes and hillsides. Productions use it for period or residential backdrops. This is where great desert-meets-architecture views.

1) University of Texas at El Paso
The Bhutanese-style campus architecture appears in various productions.
Stop by Don Haskins Center, used for basketball scenes in Glory Road.

2) Mesa Street
Sections of this corridor were used for street scenes in the TV movie On the Border. Drive slowly through older commercial stretches for recognizable looks.
Drive: 12 minutes southeast
3) Sun Valley Motel
Exterior location used in On the Border.

If your closet has been stressing you out all season long because it’s bursting at the seams, turn decluttering into a game! Our family has done this for years, and honestly, it works! This month, face all your hangers the same way. Every time you wear an item, flip its hanger in the opposite direction.
Embrace the One In, One Out Rule
Whether you are in the closet or cleaning items throughout the house, think about the “one in, one out rule.” Got a new sweater from Santa? Great! Maybe it’s time to get rid of one you haven’t worn in years. Ditto for shoes, blankets, rugs and even the shades of trendy-past lipstick or those dozen shirts from sports teams of the past.
