Thanks to its unique border culture and desert setting, our city’s festivals often blend Mexican, Southwestern, and American traditions into one lively experience. If you have company coming to visit you at our apartments to rent or lease in El Paso, Texas, here are some of the top summer events and festivals in El Paso, along with links to explore each one.

El Paso Downtown Street Festival

One of the biggest summer celebrations in the city, the El Paso Downtown Street Festival, is being held on the Fourth of July. It features multiple music stages, food trucks, car shows, and family-friendly entertainment, all capped off with fireworks. It’s a high-energy event that showcases the city’s diverse culture and community spirit.

Music Under the Stars (Chamizal National Memorial)

A longtime local favorite, Music Under the Stars is a free outdoor concert series held throughout the summer. Featuring genres ranging from Latin to jazz and pop, it’s a relaxed way to enjoy live music under our beautiful desert sky.

Cool Canyon Nights (McKelligon Canyon)

Set in a scenic canyon amphitheater, Cool Canyon Nights combines live music, food, and drinks in a classic outdoor setting. Running through the summer months, it’s known for its laid-back vibe and beautiful surroundings—perfect for escaping the city heat in the evenings. FYI: This is always a must-do for our staff at Cantera!

Beauty & The Beast

June 10 – 14 , 2026

According to the promoters of El Paso, Live!, this enchanting and timeless tale is filled with the romance and grandeur audiences know and love and has been brought to life like never before.  Gather your family and friends and get your tickets now to experience the spectacular new sets and dazzling costumes. The show boasts the Oscar®-winning and Tony Award®-nominated score, including the classic songs “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

El Fresco: Latina Ladies

June 19, 2026

El Paso Live is also presenting the return of the El Fresco Music Series, bringing free outdoor concerts back to the Convention Center Plaza this summer. Featuring four themed nights including Disco, Latina, Cumbia, and Country, the 2026 El Fresco All Stars series highlights local talent, food vendors, drinks, and artisan markets. Open to all ages, El Fresco offers a lively way to experience summer nights in Downtown El Paso.  Got company coming? Get your tickets soon and enjoy everything great about El Paso, Live this summer.

Gerardo Ortiz: El Ejemplar Tour

June 17, 2026

Gerardo Ortíz is an American-Mexican singer, songwriter, and record producer who has become a leading figure in regional Mexican music, blending norteño, banda, and corridos with modern arrangements. Rising to fame with his 2010 debut Ni Hoy Ni Mañana, he’s earned multiple Premio Lo Nuestro wins, Grammy nominations, and over a dozen Billboard No. 1 albums, while also facing controversy over his narcocorrido lyrics.

Totally Rad Vintage Fest

June 20, 2026

Here’s a new adventure for all to enjoy in El Paso. All the vendors specialize in clothing and accessories from the 80s, 90s, and Y2K eras, while also offering a selection of toys, home goods, and more to complete your nostalgic shopping experience! For the kids (of all ages), you can also unleash your inner gamer at the Free-Play Vintage Arcade, and explore the Rad Rewind Museum with relics from the past.

Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass ~ and other delights

June 20, 2026

Here’s a flash back coming back to life!  For those unfamiliar with the 60s sensation, Herb Alpert is an American trumpeter, composer, record executive, visual artist, and philanthropist who co-founded A&M Records and led the Grammy-winning Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass. He achieved 1960s hits like The Lonely Bull and A Taste of Honey. The only artist with No. 1 hits as both vocalist and instrumentalist, he has sold over 72 million records, won 8 Grammys, a Tony Award, and the National Medal of Arts.

Brincos Dieras: El Desmadre Continua Tour

June 26, 2026

This one is an adults-only option (I our humble opinion). Mexico's irreverent clown, Brincos Dieras, brings his unfiltered comedy across the US and Mexico. He is delivering his solo show to audiences craving pure comedic chaos. The standalone format guarantees a highly interactive experience strictly for mature audiences. Ready for relentless laughs? Grab your tickets today before they sell out!

A few more final thoughts ~

Summer in El Paso is all about community, culture, and staying active despite our steamy days! From outdoor concerts and mountain festivals to film events and cultural celebrations, the city offers a wide variety of experiences that reflect its rich border heritage. Whether you’re exploring downtown nightlife or enjoying music in a canyon, these events give you a deeper, more authentic taste of your hometown of El Paso!

April is one of the most wonderful times to go out to enjoy all the great weather and great events underway throughout the city and beyond — thanks to a packed calendar of festivals, cultural celebrations, and family-friendly events.

One of the standout events each April is the El Paso Science Festival. Scheduled for April 18–19, 2026, the festival features hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations, and interactive activities designed for kids and adults alike. It’s especially popular with families because it encourages curiosity and learning through play, making science both accessible and exciting. The event continues to grow each year as one of the city’s premier spring attractions.

Love food? You’ll love this! The Taste of El Paso Festival, happening on April 25, 2026, is a must-visit for anyone interested in the local culinary scene. This all-ages event brings together food vendors, live entertainment, and great all-around things to do in El Paso in April.

That same weekend, adults looking for a lively social scene can check out the El Paso Margarita Festival. This event features margarita tastings, live DJs, and food vendors. It’s a fun, high-energy event that is ideal for special occasions.  We went there last year for a very fun and festive Ladies Night Out!

Beyond festivals, April also marks the start of baseball season in El Paso! The El Paso Chihuahuas play multiple home games throughout the month at Southwest University Park. If you have yet to attend one of their games, this is the year to do so. You’ll be hooked like the rest of us! Kids LOVE nights at the part as well as they can cheer on their favorite players and, of course, sing the classic 7th Inning Stretch tune: “Take Me Out to The Ballgame.”!

If you are looking for a little more culture, El Paso has that too. For example, Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros takes place on April 25, celebrating children, reading, and community through interactive activities and educational programming. It’s a meaningful and fun event that reflects the city’s strong cultural identity and focuses on family.

Throughout April, visitors can also enjoy live music performances, theater shows, and community gatherings happening across the city. From small concerts at local venues to larger performances at historic theaters, there’s always something happening on any given weekend. For a complete list of events, click into VisitElPaso.com.

Whether you’re looking for things to do with your kids, or just need to get outside to enjoy the cooler temps of the season, our team at Cantera apartments for rent and lease in El Paso welcomes every opportunity to share our insight with you!

Ahhh, El Paso in April.  Just the sound of it makes one want to pack up the kiddos and head out to enjoy the great outdoors!

To give you some ideas that have been ‘kid-approved’ and ideal for families with all ages, we checked with a few families here at Cantera Apartments for Rent in El Paso, Texas.

Here’s a full list of things to do within our amazing city and outskirts that blend adventure, culture, and kid-friendly fun.

With temperatures comfortably in the 70s and 80s, spring is one of the best times to explore everything El Paso has to offer without the intense summer heat.

One of our favorite things to do with the kids is to pack a picnic and head to the Franklin Mountains, where there are plenty of opportunities for family-friendly hikes. You don’t have to be an experienced hiker to enjoy it either—there are plenty of short, manageable trails and scenic viewpoints that are perfect for kids. Pack a hat, bring water and turn it into a mini-adventure.

For a more relaxed outdoor day, head to one of the city’s many parks. Ascarate Park is a favorite among the residents here at Cantera. The park’s large open spaces gives you an immediate feel that you have left the city life.  It’s where kids can run freely while parents unwind. Or get more adventurous, rent some pedal boats or play “Marco Polo” in the pool!

No family outing is complete without a visit to the zoo. The El Paso Zoo is a must-do, offering a mix of animal exhibits, a splash pad, and even a train ride that younger kids will love. It’s easy to spend an entire morning here, especially when the weather is as pleasant as it is in April. Be sure not to miss the Wildlife Amphitheater. Funded by the 2012 Quality of Life bond funds, the state-of-the-art Amphitheater is a place for Zoo guests to engage and learn in a whole new way through animal encounters, educational programs, concerts, and much more!

For more educational opportunities, La Nube Discovery Center isn’t just any museum, it is a cutting-edge STEAM discovery center where guests of all ages can explore, play, create, and push the boundaries of innovation.

But wait, there’s more! Click into our Blog later this month to get our recommendation of top events and more things to do in April in El Paso!

Earlier this month we provided you with a list of famous places in El Paso where movies and television series have been filmed.

To see them for yourself, enjoy the self-guided walking tour. El Paso’s downtown core is compact and very walkable, while the desert, university, and border-adjacent spots are better by car. Here’s a self-guided walking tour and driving tour that will take you to the most recognizable filming locations in El Paso used for movies and TV shows.

Downtown El Paso Walking Film Tour (1.5–2 hours)

1) San Jacinto Plaza

Start here in the historic heart of downtown. Productions often use the plaza and surrounding streets for city establishing shots and crowd scenes.

Walk: 3–4 minutes south

2) WestStar Tower

This tall glass tower and surrounding blocks were used prominently in One Battle After Another for skyline and urban scenes. There are good angles from Kansas St. and Mills Ave.

Walk: 5 minutes

3) South Kansas Street

Multiple blocks between 1st and Paisano have hosted street-level filming (cars, foot chases, downtown atmosphere) for One Battle After Another. Walk the corridor for recognizable façades and alleyways.

Walk: 4 minutes west

4) El Paso Museum of Art

While not a specific set, this civic cluster (museum/library/plaza) often appears as background architecture in downtown shoots. It’s also a nice cultural stop.

Walk: 6–8 minutes north

5) Sunset Heights Historic District

End your walk in this neighborhood of early-1900s homes and hillsides. Productions use it for period or residential backdrops. This is where great desert-meets-architecture views.

EL PASO DRIVING TOUR OF FAMOUS MOVIE AND TELEVISION SITS

 (2.5–3.5 hours)

This tour covers locations that are spread out across the city and university area.

1) University of Texas at El Paso

The Bhutanese-style campus architecture appears in various productions.
Stop by Don Haskins Center, used for basketball scenes in Glory Road.

Drive: 10 minutes east

2) Mesa Street

Sections of this corridor were used for street scenes in the TV movie On the Border. Drive slowly through older commercial stretches for recognizable looks.

Drive: 12 minutes southeast

3) Sun Valley Motel

Exterior location used in On the Border.
Quick photo stop from the street.

Drive: 15–20 minutes back toward downtown/river

4) El Paso–Ciudad Juárez border area

Desert, river, and port-of-entry visuals have been used to establish the setting for crime dramas like Traffic and the series The Bridge. The  scenic drive along Paisano Dr. offer cinematic border views.

Drive: 10 minutes north

5) Scenic Drive Overlook

Finish with the classic overlook above downtown. While not a specific set, it’s a favorite for establishing skyline shots and gives you a “movie ending” view of the whole city.

Earlier this month, we offered some of the most romantic things to do in El Paso. And there are sooo many options, our family at Cantera apartments for rent in El Paso decided to share a few more to ensure you and yours enjoy the month of February to your heart’s content!

Experience a Bird’s Eye View for TWO!

This is one big hint for impressing your date any time or day of the year.  Thanks to the professional pilots at El Paso’s helicopter tours, you can see El Paso from a bird’s eye view.  Make this a must-do – for two!  The sights of the Rio Grande are every reason to save up to spoil the one(s) you love.  One of the most recommended in the business is with Helicopter Joy Ride, who is ready to take you and your Valentine on a trip of a lifetime!

Say “I DO” at Sunrise
Over the years, we have written about El Paso’s classic spots to see some of the most spectacular sights.  For those who are looking for THE spot to pop the question, let us re-recommend some top spots to see the sun rise and set in El Paso:

Hueco Tanks State Park
Scenic Drive
Transmountain Drive

Get Your Motor (and your heart) Running
Here are several ways to get your heart racing while taking in the sandy and sunny sights through off-road riding adventures in El Paso. To get your motor running, sign up with RentAnATV and get ready to ride along with one of their certified tour guides through miles of trails, rocky hills, compact dirt roads, sand dunes & more! Be sure to bring your camera to capture pics of ancient fossils as you ride through an ancient seabed and witness Red Tail Hawks, jack rabbits, quail, roadrunners, and many other animals native to the El Paso desert area.

Giddy-up!
If horsin’ around seems like something your loved one would love, there are more than enough opportunities to surprise your valentine with an exclusive ‘couples’ horseback riding adventure. We highly recommend you schedule your ride just before the sunsets to paint a perfect picture for a date night out.  For the best of the best in the business, click here to see your options  at Horseback Riding in El Paso – ToDoElPaso.com.

Seek out the Stars
For a much quieter pace for passionate times together, gather a blanket and your best friend and head out of town to stargaze into the night.  Fuel the fun and romance by packing a dinner-style picnic, complete with candlelight, chocolate and, of course, a bottle of bubbly to toast into the night.

Just Say Spahhh
When it’s time to unplug, unwind and try something unconventional, it’s time to reserve some ‘float therapy’ time  or a day at the spa at one of El Paso’s award-winning spas.  Ideal for both individuals and couples, this “surreal and almost sci‑fi experience” can be the perfect ending to an adventurous day in the great outdoors.

  1. for all who live in and around our apartment community in El Paso, Texas, a fine selection of top spas in El Paso offers the perfect escape. Whether your life overflows with family commitments or perhaps too many hours at work, we encourage you to find some ‘me’ time at some of our favorite spas noted below.

Earlier this month we started to share some of our own top tips for getting organized this year.  There were so many other quick and easy tips that we decided to continue our January Blog on your behalf.

Happy tidying – and don’t forget about rewarding yourself when all is said and done!

Create a Closet Revamp

If your closet has been stressing you out all season long because it’s bursting at the seams, turn decluttering into a game! Our family has done this for years, and honestly, it works! This month, face all your hangers the same way. Every time you wear an item, flip its hanger in the opposite direction.

Embrace the One In, One Out Rule

Whether you are in the closet or cleaning items throughout the house, think about the “one in, one out rule.”  Got a new sweater from Santa?  Great!  Maybe it’s time to get rid of one you haven’t worn in years.  Ditto for shoes, blankets, rugs and even the shades of trendy-past lipstick or those dozen shirts from sports teams of the past.  And here’s the best part, if you keep this theme going throughout the year, think of all the new items you will have to brighten your life, while you donate some of your past favorites to those who need them most!

Write Down Important Dates for the Year

While you are sorting through all those papers, perhaps it’s time to get a good-old-fashioned calendar updated as well.  For those with smartphones, sure, it’s nice to have reminders; yet when there are other family members involved in your busy schedule, a quick glance at that calendar keeps everyone in sync.

Create (and Maintain) a Command Center

This resolution can turn chaos into calm—especially if your household feels more like Grand Central Station than a quiet retreat. A family command center is your mission control: it keeps schedules, keys, backpacks, and notes all in one spot. Pick the busiest area—kitchen, mudroom, or entryway—so everyone’s in the loop. Deck it out with a calendar, a chalkboard for quick notes, a mail sorter, and hooks for grab-and-go essentials. Keep it fresh with weekly updates, and you’ll never again lose track of your keys or miss a doctor’s appointment. It’s organization, but with a dash of fun and teamwork.

Make a “Spoil Me More” List

As you continue to put some TLC into your home sweet home, don’t forget about yourself.  One of the greatest rewards of accomplishing the tasks above is to treat yourself to something FOR yourself.  Think: New sheets. A new pillow.  New towels for the kitchen and bath. Or a fluffy new blanket to keep you warm during our winter months.

Consider Wellness Goals

Now that your home is in good shape, it’s time to do the same for your mind and body.  Throughout Austin, there are MORE than enough fitness clubs to get you in gear or click into the web to find FREE online wellness advice and exercises to suit your personal goals and lifestyle.

With the holidays of 2025 behind us, it’s time to focus on a brand-new year to come! To help you have a more organized home to leave more time for fun and adventure in El Paso, our family at Cantera apartments for rent in El Paso put our ideas together to share with you!

Be sure to check in later this month for PART TWO on some of the top tips to organize your home in 2026!

Put Away Holiday Decorations

If you’re someone who takes down holiday decorations before the new year, turn the process into a mini-adventure! Challenge yourself to find creative ways to store your ornaments and lights—maybe color-code your bins, snap photos of your best setups for next year, or write funny notes to your future self. And don’t be afraid to say goodbye to any decorations that have lost their sparkle or survived one too many seasons; we recommend that you only keep what you truly love.

Lighten up The Freezer

Turn this usually-overlooked task into a treasure hunt— and don’t be surprised if you tackle this in just a few moments!  Make it a fun challenge: can you plan creative meals using only what’s in your freezer this week? We like to click into TasteofHome.com and list what we have uncovered, then see what the pros recommend. You might rediscover old favorites or invent a new go-to dish!

Deep Clean the Entire House

Don’t worry, be happy … with the end result.  This is not a task that has to last a full day. In fact, we suggest you take the concept of a “Deep Clean” and stretch it out over one week’s time. For example, maybe you clean your bedroom on Sunday, or the bathroom on Monday, you get the idea.  Honestly, we keep Saturday open for cleaning the kitchen, from top to bottom. That task is always an adventure as we find forgotten snacks, read the ‘expired’ labels (and make a list to replace the goods) and if you are really into it, alphabetize those spices!  You will appreciate the latter when it comes to saving time in the kitchen in the year to come.

Corral Those Papers

If your home is a sea of stray papers, it’s time for a paperwork rescue mission!   Pick one day a week for a quick ‘paper power hour’: deal with the easy stuff on the spot, schedule time for trickier tasks, and file away what you need to keep. Turn on some music and see how much you can conquer before your favorite song ends!

Next, play detective: scan the paperwork you actually need and file it safely in your favorite cloud system, then send the rest through the shredder with satisfaction. For the truly important originals—think birth certificates or passports—set up a VIP section in a small filing box or fireproof safe.
