July in El Paso, Texas might be hot, but so is the city’s calendar. From cultural festivals and live music under the stars to desert hikes and baseball nights, there’s something for everyone in the Sun City once Independence Day celebrations wrap up. Here’s what to see and do throughout July 2026 – all of which are a short drive from Cantera apartment community in El Paso.

Catch “Viva! El Paso” at McKelligon Canyon

If you missed it over the Fourth, don’t worry—it continues every weekend through July. This long-running outdoor performance celebrates the region’s 400-year history with dazzling costumes, live music, and high-energy dance numbers. Set against the dramatic backdrop of McKelligon Canyon, it’s a quintessential El Paso summer experience.

Cool Off at Wet ‘N’ Wild Waterworld

July heat calls for some splash time. Wet ‘N; Wild in Anthony, just north of El Paso, features over 25 acres of water rides, tubes, and pools. Locals love the family-friendly cabanas and grill-your-own-picnic vibe. The park also hosts Movie Nights Under the Stars on select weekends in July.

Take The Kids to the El Paso Chihuahuas Baseball Games

Catch a game at Southwest University Park downtown. The city’s beloved Triple-A baseball team brings big-league energy with themed nights, giveaways, and post-game fireworks every Friday. The open-air stadium offers great views of the skyline—and plenty of local eats like Chico’s Tacos nachos and Border Burgers.

Enjoy Music and Food at Alfresco! Fridays

The free downtown concert series continues through July in downtown El Paso, blending live music with food trucks and craft beer booths. Each week highlights different genres—from Tejano to funk—under the desert night sky at Convention Center Plaza. Bring your dancing shoes and enjoy one of the city’s most beloved summer traditions.

Explore Art at the El Paso Museum District

Escape the heat indoors with a visit to the El Paso Museum of Art, the Border Heritage Center, or the El Paso Museum of History. Exhibits this July focus on Southwestern artists, Native cultures, and regional history.

Earlier this month we introduced you to some of our favorite mountain bike adventures with details that we gathered online. There were so many good ideas from our apartments for rent in El Paso, Texas that we are continuing our list to get you out and about in the great outdoors!

Arroyo Park Loop: A City Oasis

If you’re looking for an urban escape, look no further than Arroyo Park Loop! This charming 60-acre natural preserve is the playground for riders of all levels. Beginners can keep it chill while avoiding the thrilling jump line, while more seasoned riders can relish the challenges ahead. You’ll start on a narrow single track that winds through lush vegetation before opening up to a wider path. With a variety of loops to tackle, Arroyo Park serves as an excellent introduction to the longer, more rugged trails that await in the El Paso region.

Beer Fridge Route

Who says biking can’t be refreshing? The Beer Fridge Route is an idyllic fall ride through the foothills of the Franklin Mountains, perfectly crafted for those who love the thrill of the chase. This moderately challenging loop includes rocky terrain, steep climbs, and exhilarating drop-ins, all while inviting you to pause at the infamous “beer fridge.” Start your journey at Lost Dog Trail head and navigate your way up to The Worm trail.

The sharp switchbacks will keep you on your toes, but the expansive views will make it worth every pedal stroke. Travel through Worm Valley, then glide onto lower Milo’s Revenge before taking a right onto the Covid 19 trail. This winding path leads you east toward the Franklins, merging seamlessly with El Refri. Once you connect and make the descent on The Worm, hold on tight for loose rocks and wild switchbacks as you work your way back to Lost Dog.

Palisade Canyon Challenge

Ready for an adrenaline surge? Palisade Canyon invites you into 200 acres of challenging terrain right in the heart of El Paso. Beginners can start their adventure on the Palisades Canyon Access Road, but watch out for those steep sections! Intermediate and advanced riders will find joy in technical switchbacks and steep climbs that guarantee to get your heart racing.  Once you have explored this route, read on to learn more about what awaits you and yours within this scenic setting in El Paso.

Monk’s Trail

This ride is a gem, a thrilling highlight that awaits you at the end of the Palisades Canyon Loop! Picture this: you’re gliding downhill, the wind rushing past you, as you tackle a mix of rough, loose sections and solid rock formations. Be prepared to channel your inner mountain goat as you weave between two-foot-tall boulders. For this ride, a high-suspension, all-mountain bike is your best companion. If you’re on a cross-country bike, just remember to take it easy, or risk turning your trusty steed into a tire-popping, frame-bending adventure partner.

As you are near the end, excitement ramps up with some twisty, technical switchbacks waiting to test your skills! And don't forget about those narrow jumps—precision is key! Think of them as your personal pump track, where you can float over the obstacles and ride the waves of adrenaline. Once you conquer the jumps, get ready to shift into high gear and pedal like a champ! You'll need every ounce of energy to tackle the steep ramp back up to the Palisades Canyon Access Road. But fear not, because at the top, you'll have a sense of achievement and adventure that makes every moment of this ride worth it.

Grab your bike and hit the trails—it’s time to make some unforgettable memories this summer in El Paso!

If you're someone who enjoys the thrill of biking along scenic trails with vibrant sights, El Paso, Texas has a plethora of amazing spots just waiting for you to explore. With stunning views and a variety of trails suitable for all skill levels, this city offers mountain biking experiences that are second to none. We recently gathered insights from our team at our apartments for rent in El Paso, Texas.  We then researched the web to get some of the rider’s actual tips for your trips! Enjoy the details and watch later this month for more of the best mountain biking trails in Austin!

Old Blue Mad Cow Loop

Get ready to saddle up and conquer the thrilling Old Blue Mad Cow loop! This fantastic trail blends the best of Old Tin Mine Road, Blue Moon, Mad Cow, and Lazy Cow for a varied ride that’ll have you grinning ear to ear. If you’re an average rider, you can tackle this exhilarating loop in just over an hour—but be prepared for a hearty workout! As you launch into the adventure from the Chuck Heinrick Park Trailhead, you’ll start your ascent onto the levee.

Climb south for a quarter mile before making a U-turn, heading back north toward Old Tin Mine Road. Sure, the climb can feel a bit relentless—especially through the loose arroyos—but hang in there! The reward comes when you hit the 2.3-mile mark, where hard work meets rewarding fun. Breathe deep as you take a refreshing break and zoom down Blue Moon, navigating some challenging climbs that lead you to Mad Cow. And oh, when you hit that silky-smooth single-track rollercoaster? It’s sheer bliss, with switchbacks that will make you feel like a champion.

Sotol Adventure

Sync your pedaling to the rhythm of the wild as you enter the Sotol trail at Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park. After tackling the formidable Old Tin Mine Road, the gorgeous views from the T intersection with Mundy's Gap East will take your breath away! Don’t let the downhill lull you into complacency just yet; there’s still a bit of uphill that dares you to press on. The combination of single track and overgrown jeep trails leads you through a postcard-worthy landscape with stunning vistas. As you near the bend crowned with sotol and ocotillo, the trail starts to drop. Conquer those short, rocky descents carefully, and enjoy the ride down as the adventure unfurls before you.

Franklin Mountain Extravaganza

Prepare to be amazed as you embark on the awe-inspiring Franklin Mountain loop! The journey begins with the captivating views along the Lower Sunset Trail, where cliff side rides elevate both your heart rate and your spirits. Watch out for friendly boulders and prickly cacti as you navigate the terrain. Next, tackle the rocky Bike Loop, with its array of technical challenges. The Northern Pass will test your skills with steep switchbacks that seem to scrape the sky—reach the summit and let the panoramic views work their magic. After a swift connection through Hitt Canyon Loop, dive into the fun of Sotol Forest. You’ll have some rocky obstacles to conquer, but it’s an absolute blast. And then, brace yourself for the ultimate ascent on Mundy’s Gap East, the grand finale that rewards your effort with breathtaking sights.

Stay tuned for more exciting trails and parks in our next blog! Happy biking!

Ghosts of the Camino Real San Elizario Spirit Walk

If you are into paranormal events and suspicions, 915Ghosts has a special treat for you. During their annual “Ghosts of the Camino Real San Elizario Spirit Walk you will walk along Main Street with the spirits of yesteryear. The town of San Elizaro dates back to 1598 and today, not much has changed. During this professionally presented Ghost Walk, the proprietors will tell tales of times gone by.

Listen closely for the whispers from the walls of the galleries, missions and chapels and be prepared for the unexpected at the jail where Billy the Kid spent time in 1876. According to those who have taken this walk along Main Street, “it is not uncommon for guests to see apparitions, hear voices and feel the touch of unseen spirits.”

El Paso’s 4th of July Parades

On the West Side of El Paso ~

For over 20 years, the Rotary Club of West Paso has organized the biggest parade of the year, and this year is no exception. Since 1962, when the Club was established, this Rotary organization has donated over $150,000 to community organizations promoting youth programs and quality of life for all.

There are lots of perfect spots to view the classic and crazy floats, marching bands, and so much more. See the parade route below, and be sure to bring your chairs and sunscreen. Then sit back and celebrate!

See the complete West El Paso Parade Route through this link to the Rotary website.

On the East Side of El Paso

The Del Norte Lions Club hosts this annual 4th of July parade that starts at 9:00 am.  Here’s the parade route.

  • The festivities start at Hanks High School
